-Hello
Nils, I'm flattered you accepted to be interviewed
for my online magazine, to start this interview off,
please give some background information.
My
Father is from Texas, my Mother is from Sweden, and
I am an only child. I was born and raised in San Antonio
Texas where I lived all through grade school, graduated
at 17 and took a year off of school to travel a bit
before going back to school which is what took me to
New York. I went to The New York Conservatory for Dramatic
Arts to study acting. I have since graduated and am
still living in the best city in the world.
-
How and when did you start your career as a model?
I
don't know if I would consider it a career, but I was
scouted by Kirk Blake in Madison Square Park while I
was on a lunch break from school. He asked if I had
ever modeled, which I hadn't, and if he could take a
few digitals to show the bookers at IMG. Shortly after,
I signed with them and it all started from there. This
was in the summer of 2008.
- What was
your family's reaction to your decision to enter modeling?
I
have the best parents in the world so they were all
for anything I wanted to do with my life, however my
father was a bit skeptical after hearing about the scams
that can be synonymous with the modeling world. After
I told him the details and assured him it was completely
legitimate he was excited for me and has been every
step of the way.
-Do you remember your
first photo shoot? Who was the photographer and
did you feel comfortable in front of the camera?
My
first shoot was with Chidi Acara. I felt a bit awkward
in front of the camera, not because I was shy, but
because I had no idea how to pose without looking like
Zoolander. It's something that only became easier with
each job.
-Which designer was your main
fashion show for? Were you excited during it?
I'm
not sure what you mean by main fashion show but the
one that people really took notice to was either Versace
or Dsquared, Versace was of course an honor, while Dsquared
was the most fun I have ever had doing a show.
-What kind of assignments, as a model, do you prefer?
Do you prefer doing
photo shoots for editorials and campaigns or the fashion
shows?
Being
flown somewhere tropical is always great. It makes the
mood on set a bit
more playful and feels a little less like work. The
shows are also always
fun, the process can be a bit tiring but the actual
time spent
walking the runway for the biggest designers is a rush.
-I know it's important moment for your career, can you
share with me some
of your recent and upcoming modeling assignments?
Looking
forward to the Ralph Lauren Polo shoot thats coming
out for Wimbeldon.
-What was the most fun work that you have done as a model?
Hard
to say but I'm sure it would either be a job with friends
or cute women
;-)
-Tell me a little bit about your personality, how would
you describe yourself
in few words? Which adjectives would
you use?
I
would say I'm a bit of a joker, always like to keep
people laughing around
me. A few adjectives would be confident, benevolent,
playful, accepting.
-How do you like to spend your spare time and what is
the meaning of fun
and having a good time for you?
I
love playing my guitar any time of the day, very therapeutic.
I' love anything
spontaneous weather it be a new restaurant, sporting
event, movie,
etc. The best times in my life have always been moments
surrounded by
friends and family.
-Thanks Nils for sharing your story with me, I wish you
all the best: health,
happiness, love and success!
My
pleasure.
