Mag! October, 2009
-Hello
Mark, I'm really flattered you accepted to be
interviewed for my online mag, to start this
interview off, please give me some background information.
Hey
Edo, no thank you. I was born in Zeist a small town
in Holland where I grow up with 2 older brothers and
of course my parents, when I was 18 I moved out and started
living on my own and studied in Utrecht after I finished
my studies I started working as a car salesman to get
to know how a business works.
-How did you get into modeling? Was it easy or difficult
for you to be
convinced to become a model?
After 2 years of working
as a car salesman I have to
say I was really bored of it . One night I went out with some friends in Amsterdam, when
I was walking out of a jazz bar where there was
a small concert and an old American guy was playing with
his band, some guy walked up to me between all my friends
and asked me if I was already modeling. My first
response was "No I am not" because I didn’t know anything
about it and I didn’t think it was something for me. He
invited me into the agency and we talked a bit. My plan
was to do it part time and just stay in Holland, but
it became really fast more than just part-time, and now
I'm traveling all over the world and I'm living in N.Y.C, all
this in one year.
-Which was your first
main assignment as a model?
My first
big thing was the campaign for Pringle of Scotland that
was shot by Fabien Baron.
Which do you prefer doing: runway shows, editorials,
catalogue jobs? Why?
I love to do runway because it gives
you some great energy when you are walking, and I like
doing editorials if it's a cool story.
-I know it's a very special moment for your career, can
you tell me a
bit about your recent modeling assignments and about
the famous photographers
you have worked with?
Well my first job was with Fabien
Baron for Pringle of Scotland, after that I started
working with more good photographers, I did a story
in W magazine with Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, it's great to work with
them!!! This month Gucci Eyewear campaign came
out, I shot that with Daniel Jackson and I shot a Zegna
campaign that is coming out in January, I always
love to work with Milan Vukmirovic he makes great pictures!!!

-I read your profile on models.com and I realised you're
already a real
top male model, what do you think is the key to be chosen
by photographers
and clients in such a competitive market and did you
expect
such a great success?
I think professionality and personality.
No I never thought it would go this fast.
-What's the most difficult part of being a model and
what are the best parts?
Not seeing friends and family
for a long time because we always travel allot, but
in the same time that's the best thing about modeling
and getting to know so many new people all over the
world.
-Turning to some personal questions, how would you describe
yourself?
If you had to use few words to describe your personality,
which
adjectives would you use?
I'm really easy going
but
if I dont like something I'll let you know.
-How do you like to spend your spare time? What is the
meaning of fun
and having a good time for you?
I like
to spend my spare time with close friends and family fun is having
a good time but having a good time is less then fun
;) lol
-Thanks
Mark for taking the time to reply to my questions, it
was a gift
for me and my readers!
Thank you very much I hope you
all enjoyed it.
