Mag! June, 2011
- Hello
Josh, I'm flattered you accepted to be interviewed for
CoverMen Mag, to start this interview
off, please give me some background information.
First let me say It's my pleasure
to do this interview, you've done a great job with your
site. I'm originally from Hollywood, Florida,
however I'm now based in Hollywood, California... Love
both cities and coasts, kinda two places famed for the
outdoors lifestyle. I am definitely happiest when I
can spend most of my days outside!
-
How were you as a kid and what do you remember from
your school days? What was your favorite subject?
As
a kid, I must say, I was definitely a handful. Energetic
and rambunctious probably doesn't come close to covering
it, and Looking back it's even easier to see what a
Task I must have been for my parents 24/7. I'm not
sure how they managed all that they did, but it's a
healthy inspiration to keep me driven when I get a bit
tired or need a bit of motivation. If I could've seen
everything they had to manage then, maybe I would've
managed my school work a bit better, ha.. It wasn't
really my thing.
- Do you remember how
and when did you start modeling and your first modeling
photo shoot?
I started modeling after I went
into Page Parkes in Miami with a girl I was dating that
was on their board. An agent there took some polaroids
and sent them out to foreign agencies, and not to long
after I was on my way to live in Paris. It all kind
of came out of nowhere and 10+ years later, I'm still
at it.
- What did you buy with your very
first earning as a model?
Funny, I am not
sure what the first big purchase I made with modeling
income was; but I do know what my favorite was - my pup.
She's 7 now and has been an unbelievable blessing in
many ways. A responsibility that has kept me grounded
and that far outweighs possessions and toys.
-
What aspect of modeling is your favorite and what
is your least favorite?
My favorite
aspect would have to be the real world experience and
education I've received while traveling, working, and
being submersed in foreign cultures. I've learned so
much about people in general, and myself as well that's
priceless. My least favorite is easy too, one of the
only tough parts is how much time you spend away from
family; especially during the holidays.

-
Tell me, what do you think is the key to be chosen
by photographers and clients in such a competitive market?
While
there's many factors taken into account when a cast
is put together; the only things I can focus on are
the things that I control. Being at my best is always
the goal, keeping a good healthy diet and staying in
the best shape possible, as well as doing the things
that help me to always be ready to work (Yoga-Meditation-Maintaining
personal responsibilities- avoiding procrastination).
I've found as long as I'm taking care of those things,
everything else will work out as it should.
-
Tell me about your professional plans: apart from
modeling, what else would you like to pursue?
For
the last couple years I've set new goals professionally.
I've studied acting and moved to LA to pursue more auditions
and opportunities in that arena. So far so good, and
I enjoy the work, so now I'm focused on balancing the
two worlds...It's a workload for sure, & I think
most people underestimate the process in general; but
I love the challenge, and look forward to learning something
new every day.
-
What are some of your personal interests and what
do you like to do in your free time if you have any?
When
I get a little free time, I love to play poker, hit
the beach, play sports, go on road trips, or just relax
in the park with the dog and enjoy the sun and nature.
Never underestimate the rejuvenating power of mother
nature!
-
Do you have a personal motto that sums up your thoughts
about life in a sentence?
I do have a personal
motto... It's also the tattoo on my wrist "RES
TENDO". It's Latin, direct translation- "BEING
PRESENT". That's my moment to moment and day to
day goal, to live every moment Fully. After all, I learned
yesterday but I can't dwell on it; and tomorrow is never
guaranteed. No time like the present!
-
Thanks Josh for taking your time to reply to my questions,
it was a gift to me and my readers!
I believe
life's a ride, no reason not to enjoy the journey as
much as possible! I'm happy I was able to share a bit
of mine with you!
