-Hello
Antonio, welcome to CoverMen Mag, just to
start it off, please give
me some background information
Hi! It’s a
pleasure for me to have this interview with you. Well,
I was born in Barcelona 22 years ago and I have been
living here all my life. Since I started with this business
I travel quite a lot and I spend some time in New York
as well. As I am trying to finish the university this
year I need to spend some time in Barcelona, just to
keep my teachers happy.
-How
and when did you start your career as a model?
I
started modelling about 3 years ago. I was spotted in
Barcelona by a casting director and a photographer from
New York in Las Ramblas. They told me the whole story
about modelling and going to New York, travelling, agencies,
etc, but for a guy like me, who barely had crossed the
Spanish frontiers once, sounded like a joke. They took
some pictures of me and we kept in touch so I could
go to NY in winter. I explained my family and found
that there was a very good agency right in Barcelona.
It
was the now called 'Sight Management', with Eduardo Sayas
directing it. We could say that he changed my life.
It was one of the best decisions ever…
-Do
you remember your first photo shoot?
If
I am not wrong, it was for a Spanish catalogue. I was
quite young and everything was new for me but it has
been all about getting used to it and giving your best.
-Which
fashion designer was your first fashion show for?
It
was in winter for Dolce & Gabbana. I like my scared
face there jaja.

-Tell
me some of your recent and upcoming projects?
Its
coming out the AX summer campaign, and some catalogues
for H & M and Loewe. I just
came from Italy for a Dior project.

-Let's
talk about your colleagues: who is your favorite female
model?
If we need to talk about colleagues,
I would speak about male models, cause female and men
fashion are quite separated. At the shows we all almost
know each other, but I tend to be with my Spanish friends
like Joan Pedrola, Miguel Iglesias, Javier, etc, whenever
we can.

-I'm sure you travel a lot, what
has been the most interesting place you have visited
so far?
Cuba was one of the most special
ones. I could stay a bit longer with some locals and
it gave me a different perspective of a lot of things.
Also Perú was very nice. I love not common places
-Tell
me about your professional plans: apart from modeling,
what else would you like to pursue?
I am
studying Kinesiology (sports science), which I expect
to finish 95% in September. I wanna keep studying this
by myself to get more in deep with my knowledge but
also I'd like to do something about my passion, which
is surfing. Also I think about doing something for people
that have had less opportunities in their lives. But
I am young and I need to live a bit more to learn more
and see further.
-What is your favorite
sport and how often do you play it?
I've already
said it. It is surfing and I practice it as much as
I can, which is not that often unfortunately. I go surfing
whenever I can: from working trips anywhere to Barcelona
or New York…
-Thanks Antonio for taking
your time for this interview!
You
are welcome, my friend A.!
